Hi,
My name is Glenys and I live in Australia. I have been teaching website creation and website design for years whilst managing my own websites. During that time, I have run into countless people who have really good ideas for a website and would simply love to be online but are at a loss as to how to get started.
Why I Started this Blog
There is, of course heaps of information available online but when you are first starting out you can get lost in this maze of information overload and find yourself jumping from site to site looking for the key that will unlock the Internet door for you. After endless hours of browsing you can find yourself still looking for 1 site that can guide you step-by-step until you are the proud owner of a professional looking website.
That is the goal of this site: to guide you from the initial start-up phase and then hopefully provide a rich resource of continually-updated information as you progress.
I can still remember the day I published my first site. I was so nervous that it “wouldn’t work”, that the pages wouldn’t render properly and that in this unprofessional state, it would be out there for all to see. Little did I realise at the time that it would be weeks before I would start to see even a trickle of traffic so I had little to worry about, other than the lack of traffic of course.
Now, I look back at many of the time-consuming trial-and-error tactics I employed and can understand what many of you go through when you first start out online. Fortunately I kept a detailed diary-like report on each of my ventures, reports that I continually update today as new website software becomes available or traffic-generation ideas change. I’ll refer back to these reports as I sift through information looking for the gems that I can pass onto you.
One thing I can say for sure: I don’t think I have ever embarked on a venture more absorbing or more exciting than that of creating and managing a website. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I have!
